Photoshoot Booking Timeline

What happens next?

You decided you want book a maternity or family photography shoot and sent your initial enquiry. Now what?!

Scroll down to read the step-by-step process that gets you from enquiry to final images, and learn what to expect every step of the way.

Spoiler alert: it’s easy and quick!

1 - Dates & times

After your initial enquiry, we’ll chat about you & your family, how many children will be at the shoot (if any), how many weeks pregnant you are (if expecting), and discuss dates and times available to both of us.

2 - Agreement & Deposit

Once we find a date and time that suits us both, I’ll send you a digital photography agreement to read and sign. This contract contains basic information such as shoot date and time, what you get from the shoot, when you’re expected to receive the images back, and much more.

Alongside the agreement, I will also send you an invoice for a £50 reservation deposit. That’s all you need to book your spot!

This deposit is non-refundable, and will serve as a placeholder for the date/time requested for your shoot. As soon as the deposit is paid your slot is booked, and you won’t owe another penny until 3 days before our session.

3 - Styling & shoot prep

With the contract and deposit ticked off the list, the shoot prep begins! This is where you decide what to wear at your family / maternity photography session.

Styling makes a huge difference in the success of a shoot, and although you’re the one calling the shots, I like to give my families styling suggestions before every session. I have seen many people in front of my lens, and the 15 years I have worked as a Fashion Photographer have thoroughly helped me assess what works and what doesn’t in an image.

On my blog, you’ll have access to my Styling Guides (Family or Maternity) where I share plenty of suggestions on what’s best to wear and what’s best to avoid on a family or maternity shoot.

I am always available if you have any questions, and I’m always happy to receive snapshots of outfits - seeing how much care you are putting into your shoot wardrobe makes me all the more excited for our day!

FAMILY STYLING GUIDE

4 - Outstanding balance

3 days before the shoot date, your session’s outstanding balance is due.

You will receive a gentle email reminder with a link to easily pay this second instalment of your invoice via bank transfer.

PS: This is also when you want to lay out all the outfits you have gathered and ensure they all work together and you have everything you need!

5 - The day before

It’s the day before the shoot. Ensure everyone’s hair is freshly washed, clothes are steamed, shoes and accessories have been selected and are ready to go, and snacks & changes of clothes are all packed.

Check out my What to Bring to Your Photoshoot article for more info and inspiration!

6 - IT’S GO TIME!

Do your best to turn up to the location on time, as time lost means a shorter session and it might compromise the quality of the available light. Come with makeup/hair done to save time and allow for more shooting time. Remember that less is more!

Once you turn up, you’ve done all the work. Now leave it to me!

Enjoy our beautiful location, and feel free to kiss, dance with and cuddle your loved ones whilst I gently guide you through it all.

If your children don’t sit still, don’t worry for a second. Neither do mine! I work around children, letting them have fun, directing them through play to have them where we need them to be.

7 - Selection Gallery

No later than 4 weeks from the shoot date (and usually much sooner!), you will receive a link to an online gallery for image selection with all the best captures from our shoot hand-edited by me. That’s usually 50+ images.

That’s where you will select and download your favourite images from your shoot.

Keep in mind the number of images that are included within your package (which will be detailed in the contract agreement you would have signed before the shoot).

If you wish to purchase any extra images in addition to the ones included in your package, or purchase the gallery as a whole, you can easily do so via the online gallery itself.

Your gallery will remain online for 1 month following the delivery of your final images. Make sure you download your images before the gallery expires!

8 - And lastly… the good vibes

I am thankful for every human I get to look at through my lens and for the trust you put in me to capture the essence of your family love, and I won’t hesitate to tell you.

Likewise, hearing families’ positive feedback after our shoot makes my heart sing, so why not share our positive thoughts about working with one another? It’s the perfect ending to the short yet exciting journey we’ve been on.

If you’re on Instagram or Facebook, find me there and let’s keep in touch. I would absolutely love that.

Until the next shoot… :)

Love,

Rose Sol x
